Hyundai Rolls Out Contactless IONIQ Electric Test Drives

Imagine – no sales staff, no receptionist and no one to accompany you. Just go online, fill in your details, book a test drive and turn up at the appointed time.


In place of the Ioniq Hybrid’s 1.6-litre petrol engine and electric motor combination, you’ll find a single 88kW electric motor residing in the Ioniq Electric’s engine bay. This means 118 bhp and 295 Nm of instantaneous torque, and with a 28 kWh battery, this translates into a 280 km range that should be sufficient for a good three to four days of commuting.

This weight savings comes courtesy of the upgraded alternator management system — allowing the car to dispense with an auxillary 12-volt battery, bringing about an increase in fuel economy and more space in the boot.
